Relief as television viewers in the Riverland, Mount Gambier, and Griffith can once again tune into channel Seven, following the agreement between both the Seven and WIN networks, regarding broadcasting rights.

The standoff, which began on June 30 had left regional audiences without access to Seven’s free-to-air channels which were previously aired via WIN TV. The stand off officially ended at 5:00pm yesterday AEST. The timing was pleasing for advertisers, agencies and broadcasters alike ensuring no disruption to AFL match coverage and ensuring local fans won't miss any of the action.

In a shared statement, the networks confirmed a new broadcast agreement that restores Seven's channels to the affected regions via traditional antenna signals.

Both broadcasters expressed their appreciation for the patience shown by local communities, reiterating the critical role regional TV plays in delivering news, live sport, and entertainment to Australians outside the capital cities.

Seven West Media now has a near-national reach after acquiring former Southern Cross Austereo TV assets, but in select markets like Riverland, Mount Gambier, and Griffith, it still depends on WIN to relay its signal. The two companies have now reached a commercial understanding that allows this partnership to continue.

Broadcast Video On Demand (BVOD) streaming was not effected by this recent issue as we see more and more households opting out of antenna coverage and instead viewing FTA content via smart TV's.
